Pain is a terrible thing, physical pain destroys your will to live, mental pain causes you to want to stop living. Watching someone live with pain and knowing there is absolutely nothing they can do to help is soul-destroying.

Beating the pain is hard, really hard, beating physical and mental pain combined with bereavement is worth sharing.

Imagine giving birth 12 times a day or pulling your eyeball out with a screwdriver or attempting to trepan yourself, you may then begin to understand a condition called Cluster Headaches, which is thought to be the worst pain known to mankind.

I have lived with the condition for the last 13 years at level 10 pain for approx 12 attacks a day. All until I had a Deep Brain Stimulator (DBS) installed a few years ago, and I have been pain free ever since.

I was in the hospital for 2 days for the brain surgery - I believed in what they were doing and how it worked that I was smiling throughout the entire 8-hour procedure. The next day when they turned it on - well I haven't had an attack of any significance since. I do have to remember to charge up every 3 weeks.
